Several rescued from Chatfield Reservoir as high winds blow through

DENVER (KDVR) — Strong winds hit the Denver metro area on Thursday night, forcing the rescue of six paddleboarders at Chatfield State Park and causing a rescue boat to capsize with two people aboard.

Crews first responded to Chatfield around 7:06 p.m. and soon responded to at least three incidents.

Two paddleboarders drifted into the trees on the south end of the park, according to South Metro Fire Rescue . Divers entered the water and brought two people to shore.

Civilian boaters also rescued two people and two dogs from the reservoir, as the high winds prevented them from returning ashore. South Metro said no injuries were reported in that incident.
