Family remembers woman killed in motorcycle crash in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — A family is working to heal after a mother of three was struck by a motorcycle while trying to cross a street in Aurora this weekend.

Tammy Burchfield, 39, died at the hospital from her injuries. Her family says they never expected something like this to happen.

Police report ‘unusual’ trend in small business, home burglaries near Denver

John Burchfield, her husband, told FOX31 he was in the area at the time, which makes the loss even more difficult to process. John pointed to the area where his wife was struck.

He said he went outside and saw police and what looked like a crime scene.

“The first thing I see is her shoe,” he said.

John said he was married to his wife for 10 years.

“She was the kindest, strongest woman I’ve ever known in my life,” he said.

Police say his wife was crossing the intersection at Ironton Street and Alameda Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Reports show Tammy crossed midblock in front of the motorcycle.

“She was here crossing the street going to that 7-Eleven to buy sports and energy drinks,” John said.
