The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash occurred Sunday, and posted about it at about 5:30 p.m.

“A group of teens was heading to the river for some fishing,” the agency reported. “The driver lost control of the vehicle while driving too fast and slid off a curve into the Platte River.”

None of the teens had serious injuries, but the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office took the opportunity to remind drivers to drive safely at all times, especially on holiday weekends when many are heading out to enjoy recreational activities.
