DENVER ( KDVR ) — Joel Fitzgerald is no longer the chief of the Regional Transportation District police, FOX31 learned Friday afternoon.
Fitzgerald has been on leave since the start of July , although RTD would not comment on why or answer other questions.

A statement from RTD said that he is no longer an employee of the organization as of Sept. 20. The statement included a thank you message for Fitzgerald’s two years with the agency.
RTD said it will announce plans for interim leadership of the police department soon.
