ENGLEWOOD — Matt Peart embodies the versatility needed to play offensive line for the Broncos.
He’s ready to line up at several positions at any given time.
The 6-foot-7, 318-pound Peart is the team’s swing tackle — capable on the right or left — while entering as the extra offensive tackle in jumbo sets. On Sunday, he is expected to start at right tackle at home against the Chargers.
The fifth-year pro credits O-line coach Zach Strief and assistant O-line coach Austin King for his preparedness to do it all.
“They really hold a high standard with attention to detail,” Peart told The Denver Gazette following practice at Broncos Park. “Whether it’s swing tackle or jumbo, whenever your number is called, you’re just ready to go.”
The Broncos (3-2) injury report on Friday ruled out center Luke Wattenberg (ankle) and right tackle Alex Palczewski (ankle) in Week 6. Wide receiver Josh Reynolds also underwent minor finger surgery and will miss at least one game.
