Deputies arrest 2 for eluding after spotting truck associated with several crimes

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two people with the help of one of their K-9 units after seeing a “suspicious” truck parked in front of a TJ Maxx in Highlands Ranch.

Law enforcement said the arrest happened “several nights ago,” and that after looking up the vehicle, they found it was associated with several crimes, including eluding and theft from areas both within Douglas County and outside the county. While investigating, the deputy noticed two people inside the truck.

The deputy began to engage by turning on his emergency lights and pulling in front of the truck, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported. That’s when officials say the female driver backed the truck over a curb and grassy median into a stop sign. The agency reported that the truck was pinned on the median.

The driver and male passenger then exited the vehicle, leading the deputy to warn them several times that if they fled, he would release his K-9 unit. Both ran from the vehicle, and the K-9 apprehended the female driver.
