These are the mountain peaks you can see from Denver

DENVER ( KDVR ) — A common misconception about Denver is that the Mile High City is in the mountains. It’s not, but you can still get a good view of the mountains in the Front Range.

When looking from Denver at the mountains cascading the western horizon, can you identify each peak?

In April, Larry Scott, a graphics specialist at the Colorado Geological Survey , created a map for FOX31 showing which peaks would be visible from above Denver on a clear day.

This depiction is accurate and of scale, however, it depicts the ideal view of the mountains. To get this exact view, you would have to be about 9,500 feet high, which is about halfway between the Mile High City and the top of a 14er. Additionally, there would have to be no atmosphere.
