At least one city has a chance of 30 consecutive hours of snow, storm timeline reveals

As a notable wintery storm bears down on Colorado, the state’s residents are likely curious about how it might impact travel around the state over the next few days.

For starters, it’s important to note that the most severe impacts should be seen in the southern half of the state – below I-70 – with major metropolitans like Fort Collins, Greeley, and much of the Denver metro likely to be mostly missed according to the most recent mapping from the National Weather Service. That said, places like Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Cañon City, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Aspen, Salida, Walsenburg, Pueblo, and Trinidad could get quite a bit of snow if a 10%-chance ‘high end’ forecast comes to fruition.

Impacts likely to affect the most people will be those along I-25 south of Denver and those on I-70 east of Denver. Portions of these routes could get double-digit totals from Tuesday evening to Thursday morning. The central and southern mountain regions are also expected to get big snow, with dangerous travel expected in these areas, as well.
