Frustration grows as many may be without power for more than 24 hours after winter storm

DENVER (KDVR) — Thousands are still without power Saturday night in Colorado after Friday night’s heavy snow and many will have to wait until tomorrow for it to come back on.

“I just went to bed thinking we’d have power in the morning,” said Englewood resident Andrew Pierce.

The best inventions to come out of Colorado

Pierce said the power went out in his apartment complex around 7 p.m. on Friday. A cold night was made even worse in the morning when he found out his car was locked inside the building’s garage that couldn’t be opened.

“I actually had to call out from work today and wasn’t able to make it in so definitely very frustrating,” said Pierce.

Another resident of the building, Rich Slivka, spoke on their time without power.

“All the hallways are dark. Really dark,” said Slivka.

While he and his wife headed out to walk the dog, he was thankful someone propped the front door open.

“All the doors were also locked to the building. So if you went outside, you couldn’t get back in,” said Slivka.
