ENGLEWOOD, Colo. ( KDVR ) — A fire last Tuesday destroyed a home in Englewood and left six people with nowhere to go.
Britney Shaw wasn’t home when the fire started, but she couldn’t believe what she came home to — losing much more than just a place to live.

“I was raised there,” Shaw said. “My mom’s owned the property for 28 years now.”
Shaw lived in the Englewood home as a kid and was now raising her kids there as well.
On Tuesday, she was with her son at the park.
“That’s when I got a call from my mom urging me to come home,” she said.
Shaw wasn’t sure what had happened but she was instantly scared.
“I drove there crying, shaking, scared,” Shaw said. “I felt like I couldn’t breathe.”
Her home was engulfed in flames. She and her two young kids weren’t the only residents. Her mom lived there as well and another part of the house was home to a couple.
Six people were left out on the street.
“I started crying and collapsed to the ground, and my friend just held me in her arms and it was just horrifying,” Shaw said.
