Mountain town reports 54.9 inches of new snow after 4-day storm in Colorado

As some parts of Colorado still seem to be recovering from massive snowfall that took place last week, one small town is reporting a shocking 54.9 inches of snow – about 4.5 feet.

The recent storm was notably long and wet, producing snow from roughly Tuesday night into the early hours of Saturday in the hardest hit areas. According to the National Weather Service , the storm dropped a wild 41.5 inches of snow in Ponderosa Park (Elbert County), 37 inches in Trinidad, and more than 20 inches in some parts of the Colorado Springs and Denver metros.

Perhaps the most shocking total, however, comes from the tiny unincorporated community of San Isabel, which is located at about 8,500 feet of elevation in the Wet Mountains of Custer County, about 30 miles southwest of Pueblo.

The National Weather Service report for this part of the state indicates that 54.9 inches of snow fell during the recent storm, with measurements taken after clearing snow from prior measurements to prevent compaction.
