After back-to-back days of near-record heat, we’ll make another run at a record high on Sunday, though we’re pretty unlikely to get to our record today.
Expect mostly cloudy conditions on Sunday which could impact the high temperature. Winds will be just breezy except for a few stronger gusts in the foothills and mountains which could reach the 20-40 mph range.
A weak disturbance will pass by to the north of Colorado late tonight and tomorrow, bringing a wave of snow showers across the mountains. That could bring 1-4 inches of accumulation on a few of the peaks and high mountain passes. Travel impacts will be nil today in the high country, and we could have a few slick spots in the mountains tomorrow, mainly just atop higher passes like Rabbit Ears.
Then another storm system is likely to bring widespread snow showers to the mountains on Christmas morning, with possible impacts to mountain travel into Thursday afternoon, although overall snow totals are expected to be light. This storm is expected to favor our southern mountains with higher totals, and a few spots there could see six inches or more. Expect at least some slick spots in the mountains on Christmas Day, so if you can avoid travel on Christmas itself, you might be better off for it.
