‘Punch in the gut’: Police search for break in, theft suspect in Aurora eatery case

AURORA Colo, (KDVR) — Security cameras at an Aurora food business captured the moment a suspect broke into the business.

It happened just before midnight on Havana Street on Sunday morning. Brent Thomas, the owner of the Jamba x Auntie Anne’s, said he is grateful the break-in happened in the middle of the night while no employees were inside the store.

He said it’s still difficult to watch the video.

“With all the challenges of a small business owner you just throw this top and it makes it a little bit harder as well,” said Thomas.

The Jamba and Auntie Anne’s concept is unique to this store.

“It’s the first Jamba and Auntie Anne’s in co-branded business in Colorado,” said Thomas. “Smoothies and pretzels go together really well; you can have an indulgent treat as well as a healthy treat at the same time.”

It wasn’t the food or smoothies that attracted a thief inside just before midnight on Sunday. Surveillance video shows a masked man dressed in all black pacing back and forward outside the business, before picking up a rock to smash through the side window.
