DENVER ( KDVR ) — An early morning crash on Friday caused backups on Interstate 70 just as officials expect record-breaking traffic into the mountains this weekend.
According to COtrip , I-70 westbound was reduced to one lane and Google reported a 25-minute delay heading into the mountains just before 7 a.m. The backup was between Exit 260: C-470 and Exit 259: Morrison Road, one mile west of Golden. At this time, it’s unclear what caused the crash.

While the crash is cleared, this is the first of many expected delays this weekend.
This comes just as the Colorado Department of Transportation expects heavy traffic this weekend based on historical records and snow in the forecast .
