Man sentenced to 120 years behind bars for 2022 triple murder of family members in Aurora

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the 2022 triple murder of his own family members in Aurora.

On Friday in Arapahoe County, a judge sentenced Christopher Martinez to 120 years in prison after pleading guilty in October to three counts of second-degree murder.

“There is no perfect sentencing in a case like this. There was nothing we were ever going to get that would make the family whole, nothing that was going to bring any family members back,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Jake Adkins of the 18th Judicial District. “Ultimately though, we believe the sentence is an appropriate one and one that will hopefully give the family some peace but also ensure to the community that this individual will not be at liberty to cause any further harm.”

In December 2022 , the then-21-year-old, Martinez told his grandparents he had a bad dream that his mother and two siblings were dead. This call reportedly came after being in a fight with his mother just hours before. His mother and two siblings were later found stabbed and shot to death in their Aurora home.
