Denver Public Schools Superintendent Honors MLK Legacy with Commitment to Educational Equity

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Denver Public Schools (DPS) Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero expressed the institution’s strong commitment to educational equity, drawing inspiration from Dr. King’s enduring legacy. In a message to the DPS community, Marrero underlines the vision that “Every Learner Thrives,” emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities and the recognition of students from marginalized identities, according to Denver Public Schools.

DPS’s focus on educational equity isn’t just a talking point, it is cemented as one of their Shared Core Values, meant to inform all of the district’s endeavors, this alignment is intended to forge a path where every student, irrespective of their background has access to the support they need to succeed, Dr. Marrero shared the district’s dedication to building a robust culture of equity among students, faculty, and community members alike.

As part of the commitment to these values, DPS encourages participation in the Denver Marade, a march and parade combination, celebrating the fight for freedom and solidarity which embodies Dr. King’s spirit of unity and progress.
