As more snow and frigid temperatures loom, a ‘winter storm watch’ has been activated for much of central and western Colorado. With a holiday weekend ahead, potential weather could have big impacts on high country travel.
Snow accumulations of one to three feet will be possible through late Friday night, with the San Juans of southwest Colorado and northwest Colorado in the area of Steamboat Springs expected to get some of the deepest totals. Double-digit snow totals, however, are expected in most of the state’s mountain ranges during that time frame.
It’s also worth noting that all of that snow is expected to be accompanied by gusty conditions, likely to create major visibility concerns for travelers.
