Drivers risk instant $2,650 fine if they violate new ‘accessory rule’ – 60% of vehicles don’t meet the requirements

DRIVERS risk a hefty fine if they violate a new rule, with a local mayor claiming that over half of the vehicles passing through a major town fail to meet the requirements.

The town of Vail, Colorado , near Interstate 70 (I-70) – which runs through a mountainous corridor between Glenwood Springs and Georgetown – has imposed a fine of $2,650 for those who fail to follow the new rule.

That’s according to a report in the Colorado Sun , which highlights the state’s traction laws and a new emergency ordinance – which imposes a $1,500 fine for vehicles that don’t use chains when the state chain law is in effect.

What’s more, drivers face a fine of $2,650 for unchained commercial vehicles that spin out and block the highway…
