Colorado Winter Storm Hits Monday Night: 8–18 Inches Possible in Grand and Jackson Counties by Tuesday Night

Denver, CO – A powerful winter storm system is forecast to impact the high country of northern Colorado beginning Monday evening, potentially dumping up to 18 inches of snow and causing hazardous travel through Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for West Jackson and West Grand Counties above 9,000 feet, including Rabbit Ears Pass, beginning Monday at 9 p.m. and continuing through 6 a.m. Wednesday. Winds could gust up to 45 mph, creating dangerous whiteout conditions and severely limiting visibility.

A second Winter Storm Watch was also issued by the Grand Junction office for the Elkhead and Park Mountains, including Columbine, Hahns Peak, and Toponas, with snow totals between 8 to 16 inches, possibly higher in localized areas.
