ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the 2024 murder of his girlfriend.
Roy Jones, 54, was sentenced to 192 years in the Department of Corrections for murdering Angela Cordova inside their Sheridan home last year. After a five-day trial, Jones was convicted of:
- Second-degree murder
- Three counts of a habitual criminal
While a second-degree murder conviction carries a maximum sentence of 48 years, the habitual criminal sentence enhancers proven at trial allowed the judge to lengthen the sentence, according to the media release.
The night of May 30, Cordova’s son called 911 to report a shooting. When officers arrived at the home in the 3400 block of West Dill Road, they found Cordova, 52, unresponsive in her bed with a gunshot wound to her head, according to the media release…
