Colorado city sets new limit on how many dogs and cats a household can own

A new ordinance has been passed in the city of Northglenn, set to limit the number of dogs and cats in a household to four.

The ordinance was initially introduced after concerns were expressed over excessive noise and waste caused by the high number of pets kept by some residents of the area. The limit on number of pets per household tends to fall on each municipality, with Northglenn previously being the only city in Adams County without a limit. The limit of four pets (dogs and cats) is fairly standard compared to similar rules found around the United States. Colorado Springs allows four dogs or cats on the premise , while Denver allows a combination of five animals, but not more than three dogs .

Those caught breaking the new Northglenn rule could receive a court order requiring pet removal…
