It’s not an emu or a peacock, it’s a wild turkey

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is receiving so many calls about wild turkey sightings that they posted to social media telling residents, “Wild turkeys…  roam wild.”

While a lot of residents are used to seeing the wild turkeys in the foothills, more people are calling to report them in urban areas and along busy streets.

“We have received more calls this year for sure on the turkeys,” said Jefferson County Animal Control Officer Kristie Bennett. “A lot of people aren’t used to seeing them in cities, but it is common to see them. Right now is actually their mating season, what we call courtship time, so it is really common to see them roaming around.”…
