DENVER — Siddhartha Rathod was wrongly charged a toll by E-470 Public Highway Authority for a vehicle he says he’s never owned. What began as a $4.60 charge turned into a months-long ordeal filled with frustration, confusion, and a rapidly increasing bill.
“It would take one second for them to look at the picture,” Rathod said, referring to the photo that accompanied the initial toll notice. The image, intended to show the vehicle responsible, showed nothing more than a gray box.
“I told them that that’s ridiculous,” Rathod said of his early conversations with E-470. “I’m just asking you to type the license plate number into your system and hit enter.”…
