Brace yourselves, Denver commuters: the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced significant traffic impacts this weekend on eastbound I-70 from I-225 to Chambers Road. Various lane closures are required for repairs to a section of stormwater pipe under the roadway. According to CDOT, lane closures will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, and are projected to continue until the early morning hours of Monday, May 12.
The closures are extensive: the eastbound I-70 left lane will be shuttered, alongside the Eastbound I-70 Express Lane. Not even the westbound I-70 is spared, with the left shoulder due to be out of service. CDOT hopes to completely finnish the repair work by 5 a.m. Monday, but advises that the Express Lane may remain closed until 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 13.
