New survey shows violent crimes are declining in Denver and Aurora

DENVER (KDVR) — Both the city of Denver and the city of Aurora took part in a national survey about violent crime statistics across the country.

The survey compared the first quarter, which is considered Jan. 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024, to the same time frame in 2025. There were four categories surveyed: Homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

The survey was conducted by the Major Cities Chiefs Association, and according to the data, Denver and Aurora are seeing a decline in the homicide, robbery and aggravated assault categories…
