SIDNEY — The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch for much of the Nebraska Panhandle and northeastern Colorado, including Sidney, Kimball, Bridgeport, Ogallala, Sterling and Julesburg, valid through 8 p.m. Sunday.
A powerful storm system is forecast to bring severe thunderstorms to the region this afternoon and evening, with the potential for damaging winds up to 70 mph, large hail up to the size of apples and a few tornadoes.
“This setup carries a fairly high chance for severe storms in our area,” said Meteorologist Laura Lockwood with the WeatherEye Weather Center. “We’re expecting showers to begin around 2 or 3 p.m., with severe storms likely between 5 and 9 p.m.”…
