Denver, Colorado – Large hail and isolated tornadoes are possible across the Front Range and east-central Colorado Saturday afternoon as severe storms fire up along the I-25 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. MDT, covering a zone 40 miles east and west of a line from just east of Denver to southeast of Colorado Springs. Supercells developing through late afternoon could produce hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter, wind gusts up to 60 mph, and a tornado or two.
Communities including Aurora, Castle Rock, Limon, and Monument are at risk for rapidly intensifying storms. Motorists on I-70 and I-25 should be prepared for sudden low visibility, wind-blown debris, and hail damage. Residents are urged to move vehicles under shelter and secure outdoor items…
