Colorado community calls for the release of Jeanette Vizguerra

A question coined by the coal workers of Harlan County nearly 100 years ago was asked again by the Colorado community on June 2. Outside of the GEO ICE Detention Center in Aurora, protestors sang Florence Reece’s “Which Side Are You On?” as a call to organize to support Jeanette Vizguerra and other undocumented individuals detained by federal officials.

Jeanette Vizguerra is a nationally recognized civil rights activist who was taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement outside of her place of work on March 17.

Vizguerra is known for her decades of struggle in the immigrant rights movement, acting as a community voice and immigration activist for more than 20 years, since she arrived in the U.S. from Mexico City without documentation in the late 90s…
