Popular swim area closed at Colorado reservoir due to unsafe level of bacteria

The swim area at Aurora Reservoir has been temporarily closed due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water.

A reason that this issue exists is due to high water levels in the reservoir at this time. According to a press release from Aurora Parks, Recreation, & Open Space, fluctuating levels of bacteria in untreated waters are normal, with this tending to be an issue that’s resolved via natural processes.

The swim beach is being tested regularly to determine what level of bacteria exists. It’s set to reopen once bacteria drops to a point that’s deemed safe…
