Denver’s Vegan Bakery Receives National Recognition for Wedding Cakes

“Every time I bought a cake that was vegan, it was really expensive and it also didn’t taste good, so I started trying to bake from home,” says Angie Wells, founder of The Cake Bar — the only exclusively vegan brick-and-mortar bakery in Denver. She adds, “It was just a hobby, but it really took off because there was a huge gap in the market for delicious-tasting vegan cakes.”

While its local competition may be limited, The Cake Bar delivers excellence all the same, ranking among the best dessert shops in Denver. Last month, animal rights organization PETA also recognized it on a national scale, naming it one of the country’s top ten bakeries for vegan wedding cakes.

Wells says that up to four-tier cakes can be entirely customized with desired flavors, frosting colors, piping styles and special themes. Walk-in samples are available for free, served similar to an ice cream shop with simple spoons.
