Denver police officer fired, accused of inappropriate conduct while training recruit

DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver police officer was fired and accused of inappropriate conduct toward a female recruit he was training, according to departmental records.

According to a departmental order of disciplinary action obtained by FOX31, an officer recruit reported that Corporal James Sandoval had been inappropriate with her during training from Dec. 4, 2023, through Dec. 28, 2023. The recruit said Sandoval touched her without her consent, attempted to kiss her and made her feel uncomfortable during training.

The recruit said that Sandoval would direct her to secluded areas that were either very dark or not monitored at night, such as high school parking lots. She said that the corporal would direct her not to tell anyone about the areas, which made her feel uneasy.

“I felt like he was purposely taking me there alone,” the recruit stated in her internal affairs report…
