Family identifies man who drowned paddleboarding at Chatfield State Park

The family of James Anthony Hirsh identified him as the man who drowned earlier this week at Chatfield State Park during a paddleboarding outing with his children.

Hirsh was a father of four and had taken his sons paddleboarding when a gust of wind knocked them into the water, according to a GoFundMe page set up by the family. Hirsh never resurfaced.

The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. Monday, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). Witnesses said Hirsch and two of his children were on the same paddleboard when a strong gust of wind capsized it. Nearby paddleboarders were able to rescue the children, but were unable to reach Hirsch…
