Denver Zoo’s baby pancake tortoise gets a sweet name

The Denver Zoo announced Friday that its baby African pancake tortoise now has a name.

Zoom in: Meet Maple, the first African pancake tortoise ever successfully bred and hatched at the Denver Zoo in its 129-year history.

By the numbers: The zoo asked TODAY.com readers to help select the name for the flat little female, and Maple took the crown with 49% of the vote.
