Denver is set to host its most ambitious Back to School Fest yet, coming up on Saturday, August 2. The event is a part of the 12th annual Denver Days and takes place at the National Western Center from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Families can look forward to a comprehensive suite of free services that includes 5,000 complimentary backpacks stocked with school necessities, according to the City and County of Denver.
In an expression of community support, the festival will also offer access to health and wellness clinics without charge, as well as free haircuts for students. For families seeking employment, there is an on-site job fair. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston emphasized the sentiment of the festival, stating that “Community starts with our kids and our city is strongest when every child has the tools they need to succeed,” and that “The Back to School Fest is more than school supplies, it’s about showing every child in this city that they matter, and they belong,” as announced by the City and County of Denver.
This event is spearheaded by the Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships (HRCP) and comes to life through collaborations with organizations such as the Silva Family Foundation, Birdseed Collective, National Western Center, and Denver Water.
