DENVER (KDVR) — Denver is seeing fewer homicides these days — in fact, the city’s homicide rate is at its lowest level in about a decade.
A report released in May by the Major Cities Chiefs Association shows that Denver’s homicides dropped almost 60% in 2025, the lowest they’ve been since 2015. However, there is still room for improvement in Denver’s crime trends.

The Denver Police Department says that compared to this time last year, homicides are down almost 40%, with the city’s online crime dashboard showing 23 homicides so far. Last year, there were 38 murders reported in the city. The clearance rate on homicide cases is at about 83% — which the city says reflects the high number of crimes solved and is far above the national average.
