11 indicted by grand jury for alleged cocaine distribution ring after undercover sales

DENVER (KDVR) — A statewide grand jury indicted 11 people for a range of alleged drug distribution-related crimes that the Colorado Attorney General’s Office says occurred between August last year and May this year.

The 11 defendants are facing a total of 28 counts. Each defendant is facing a range of charges from among those 28 counts. According to a superseding indictment that was returned on June 26, law enforcement surveilled and tracked the defendants before apprehending them between August 2024 and May of this year.

The defendants are:

  • Ernesto Miranda-Contreras
  • Moises Gomez
  • Daniel Efrain Mendoza-Barragan
  • Humberto Banuelos-Carranza
  • Sergio Hermosillo-Hernandez
  • Javier Alba-Olivares
  • Luis Angel Alvizo-Rodriguez
  • Jose De Jesus Rodriguez-Garcia
  • Justin Stuart Murphy
  • Christopher Robin-Leis

Charges listed in the indictment included conspiring to distribute a controlled substance; possessing a controlled substance with the intent to distribute; and distributing a controlled substance.

The 11 defendants are accused of selling, purchasing or conspiring to distribute illicit substances, “namely cocaine,” according to the attorney general’s office. The investigation into the drug distribution ring was conducted by the North Metro Task Force, and the case is being prosecuted by the 17th Judicial District in Adams County.
