Missing woman found alive in Colorado after months-long search

COLORADO (KXRM) — The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office in California has announced they found a missing woman alive in Colorado.

North Carolina resident, 33-year-old Kelsey Pittman, was initially reported missing after losing contact with her family in November 2024. Three months later, an individual reported a suspicious car near “The Pads or Slab City,” a remote area outside of Death Valley. The area is commonly used by campers during the winter months.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet HHR, was registered to Pittman, and while a thorough search of both the vehicle and the surrounding area was done, there were no signs of Pittman.

Due to that, an extensive missing person investigation and search effort ensued. Between February and June 2025, ICSO coordinated with multiple agencies, drone teams, cadaver dog handlers, and volunteer search and rescue crews…
