DENVER (KDVR) — Sloan’s Lake, a popular place to walk, run and bike, is home to geese, ducks, and lots of fish. However, it is facing a serious bacterial problem.
“Blue-green algae is an issue. Fish kills are an issue. It’s something we have to deal with,” said Executive Director for Sloan’s Lake Park Foundation Kurt Weaver.

And deal with it fast. The warm shallow water in Sloan’s Lake makes it a prime breeding ground for blue-green algae plumes, which can be dangerous to pets and people.
Weaver says that with the popular upcoming Dragon Boat Festival taking place here, the clock is ticking to remove it or else risk losing the festival to a different location…
