Suspect arrested after after fatal hit-and-run crash in Aurora late Friday

DENVER (KDVR) — A 16-year-old boy died after he was struck by a car while riding an electric scooter in Aurora late Friday evening, with Aurora police saying the driver of the vehicle took off after the crash.

The Aurora Police Department said they responded at 11:18 p.m. to a report of the incident at East Wesley Drive and South Dunkirk Street, and that the teen was initially conscious and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

APD said the teen’s condition “declined rapidly” at the hospital and that he died shortly after arriving.

A preliminary investigation determined the teen was on an electric scooter traveling north in the marked bicycle lane on East Wesley Drive approaching South Dunkirk Street, when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle traveling the same direction, police said…
