DENVER (KDVR) — Denver’s traffic officers have their eyes on Pena Boulevard after issuing citations to a handful of drivers who were found traveling over 90 mph.
The Denver Police Department reported on Facebook that in just two weeks, Cpl. Hamel has issued citations to five drivers who were traveling at speeds that exceeded the speed limit “by a substantial margin.”

Pena Boulevard is mainly zoned to speeds of 65 mph or less.
Citations where a driver was traveling at speeds that are between 25-39 mph over the limit are considered Class 2 traffic misdemeanors and mandate a court appearance. Penalties for these traffic violations include fines that can range from $150 to $300 plus fees, and jail time could be assessed to the driver for 10 to 90 days…
