Early yesterday morning, a man was fatally shot during an altercation with Denver police while they were responding to a pair of incidents in the South Dahlia Street and East Warren Avenue area. As reported by KDVR, officers, who were initially investigating reports of shots fired around 4 a.m., encountered a woman exiting an apartment complex, followed by a male suspect who fled upon noticing the police.
In pursuit of the man, believed to be involved in a domestic violence situation, police engaged in what Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas described as a “pretty lengthy struggle” with the suspect, who then produced a handgun.
