‘Back-to-school crud’ circulates classrooms: Here’s what to know

DENVER (KDVR) — With a majority of students back in the classroom, a lot of kids might be experiencing the “back-to-school crud,” which is a somewhat predictable illness.

The transition from a summer setting to now being in a congregate classroom with new people also welcomes new germs. Doctors say it could be anything from a cold to a stomach bug or a viral or bacterial illness.

Sun Jones at the University of Phoenix College of Nursing said parents should be looking out for symptoms and keep their kid home if they have a fever greater than 100.4 degrees, vomiting or diarrhea.
