18-year-old arrested in Broomfield after allegedly driving 124 mph

DENVER (KDVR) — An 18-year-old was arrested on Monday after police tracked him allegedly driving almost 60 mph above the speed limit on US 36.

The Broomfield Police Department posted on X about the man, who was arrested and booked into a detention center after an officer tracked him allegedly driving 124 mph and weaving around vehicles in the area of U.S. 36 and Wadsworth Boulevard.

The officer used laser imaging, detection and ranging to clock the driver heading almost 60 mph above the posted speed limit of 65 mph. Police also said nearby cars were slamming on their brakes while the SUV was weaving through the lanes.

The driver was booked on Monday for excessive speeding and reckless driving, according to police.
