Child ‘unknowingly’ had gun in backpack at elementary daycare in Aurora: Cherry Creek Schools

DENVER (KDVR) — A child found a gun in their backpack on Friday morning at an elementary school daycare program in Aurora, according to Cherry Creek Schools.

The school district sent a letter to families, which said a student at Highline Community Elementary School “unknowingly had a firearm in their backpack,” and immediately told a staff member.

Staff “immediately” took possession of the backpack without incident and contacted security and law enforcement.
