Lakewood residents raise safety concerns over pedestrian tunnel

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — Residents say a temporary pedestrian tunnel near the Wadsworth RTD Station has become unsafe and unsanitary.

The tunnel was built to help people cross busy Wadsworth Boulevard during ongoing construction. But neighbors say instead of providing safe passage, it’s attracting crime, drug use and trash.

“It’s drug use, people sleeping in there, animals living in there with people like dogs, people having cots and beds in there, sleeping, doing all sorts of drug activity, indecent exposure,” said a Lakewood resident who uses the tunnel regularly.
