Civil trial begins for former Denver officer accused of hurting bystanders during shooting

DENVER (KDVR) — A jury was seated and opening statements were made in the trial of former Denver police officer Brandon Ramos in Denver civil court.

Ramos is facing charges of firing his weapon and injuring six innocent bystanders as a fight was breaking out along Larimer Street in July 2022. The former officer had already pleaded guilty to assault charges in connection with the case.

The Denver Police Department said Ramos resigned from the department.
