Completing N-Line would cost $1 billion, RTD said

Regional Transportation District officials say that finishing only the North Metro rail line through Adams County and the Northwest Rail Peak Service from Denver to Longmont would cost almost $1 billion, well above the $441 million available for funding.

To completely finish the 2004 voter-approved mass transit expansion program known as FasTracks would cost $1.6 billion in capital and operating costs, according to a RTD ‘s 2025 Finishing FasTracks Report, which was released Monday. The report will be reviewed tonight – Sept. 30 – by the RTD Board of Directors.

The draft report also examines the challenges that are impacting the project’s full completion, highlights potential new funding sources, and points to statewide collaboration focused on intercity passenger rail, according to an RTD news release…
