What Is “Jugging” and How It Works
The new tactic for these robberies is called “Jugging,” and there are ways that you can prevent this crime from happening to you.
Jugging is a form of robbery when a suspect follows the victim immediately after withdrawing money from a financial institution, such as a bank, ATM, or check-cashing store. Suspects usually follow the victim, and when they reach their next destination, this is when the suspect approaches and demands the money. Oftentimes, the perpetrator threatens the victim or uses violence to steal the money, especially if the cash is visible.
What Colorado Police Are Seeing
The Lakewood Police Department says that Jugging suspects utilize everyday vehicles to blend in, and the best thing to look out for is behavior as an indicator. Look for vehicles that could be loitering near banks, even taking photos or using binoculars to view what is happening with a cash withdrawal.
