Criminal investigation underway after vehicle fire on I-70

DENVER (KDVR) — A vehicle fire on Interstate 70 prompted a criminal investigation on Friday morning.

Around 2:20 a.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said there was a car fire on the interstate. COtrip reported that westbound I-70 was closed between Exit 256: Lookout Mountain and Exit 254: US 40; Genesee (Genesee). The roadway has since reopened.

The sheriff’s office said it is now conducting a criminal investigation.

There is no further information on how the fire started, and what is being investigated.
