Children’s Hospital Colorado seeks blanket donations

Whether a child is in the hospital receiving care for physical or mental health, having a warm, fleece blanket can bring an extra layer of comfort.

For years, Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Association of Volunteers has provided hand-tied blankets to patients during their stay at the hospital. Patients get to choose a blanket during the hospital stay and take it home afterward, giving them a moment of control in a setting where choices are often limited.

“One of those things that people really look forward to when they have a really hard time is something that’s comforting,” said Laura Love, co-chair of the Mental Health Family Advisory Council. “We feel like (blankets) could really be comforting for them.”…
